Let’s start with the basics!
What is CBD?
CBD is a compound found in the Cannabis Sativa Plant, more commonly known as Marijuana. Now don’t freak – keep reading! 😉 Unless specifically indicated – CBD products such as ours come from The Hemp Plant which is a relative of the Cannabis Sativa Plant but it regulates the amount of THC or tetrahydrocannabinol which is also found in the plant. Unlike THC, CBD does not change your mental state. This is because most CBD products contain less than 0.3% of THC to comply with legislation. Best of all, CBD has all the benefits of Cannabis without its side effects.
Now, what makes CBD Pain Creams better then regular OTC creams? Well, one of CBD’s numerous benefits is it’s ability to alleviate both skin conditions and muscle soreness. This is because CBD penetrates the dermal AND subdermal skin layers, reaching further than just the surface of the skin.
So how do CBD topicals actually work?
CBD works by activating the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for the sensations of pleasure and pain. It does this by binding to cell receptors in muscle tissue, skin and nerves. This, in turn, can alleviate both pain AND inflammation. 🙂 Isn’t this what you want anyway?

“There is research to support that phytocannabinoids, like CBD, interact with receptors and other enzymatic factors within our skin that modulate pain and inflammation,” said Emma Chasen, the co-founder of Eminent Consulting, a cannabis consultancy firm. “Because the skin is actually quite thick, when you apply CBD cream, the CBD soaks into the skin but does not make it to the bloodstream. It interacts with CB1 receptors — if THC is also present — and other receptor families such as the TRPV receptors and factors such as PPAR-gamma and COX-½ and TNF-alpha. With these interactions, CBD can modulate the pain and inflammatory response.”

How is it used?
One of the biggest uses for topical CBD products is for musculoskeletal issues. A 2019 report from the Arthritis Foundation found that 79% of the 2,600 arthritis patients surveyed had considered using CBD or had already used it. Twenty-nine percent said they currently used it for arthritis symptoms; among those using CBD, 55% used a topical product applied to the joints.
That’s exactly why Eileen Donovan of Ayer, Massachusetts, uses her CBD lotion. She has osteoarthritis that causes regular aches and pains, and she tried a variety of other oils and pain-relieving patches. She also realized that she’s allergic to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, which led her to find other sources for pain. “I’ll put it on and walk away and think, ‘I don’t have any pain,’” she says. Donovan applies her CBD lotion to her joints about twice a day.
In addition to arthritis, topical CBD products are geared to help people with eczema and psoriasis, says Samantha Morrison, a cannabis researcher at Glacier Wellness, a CBD company in Cedarhurst, New York.

Are CBD Pain Creams for you? ~ Just my Expert Opinion
Only you can decide that but before you do, DO YOUR RESEARCH! Make sure you are getting the highest quality, authentic, organic products and make SURE you check their Certificate of Analysis (COA). Keep in mind the next time you shop on Amazon for your CBD aka “Hemp Oil products”. A “great price” doesn’t mean a “great product” by any means. Hemp Oil is NOT the same as CBD Oil and probably isn’t going to give you the results you are looking for – depending on your level of pain – what you need. Research the difference – better yet, Sign up for our Newsletter so you don’t miss our next Blog Entry! Remember – if they don’t show a COA – that tells you something. Since Amazon as well as other big ecommerce sites don’t allow any “CBD” products – shady companies are changing what they call their products in order to be allowed to sell on those sites. Do you REALLY want to trust someone like that – someone willing to lie to make a buck? (I don’t!) Side note – all of our products are Organic, the Highest Quality available, are REAL CBD products from Hemp we grow ourselves, and all COA’s are always available, right here – you don’t have to “call our customer service and ask” or “email our customer service for the answer to that question.” – These are actual quotes from companies currently selling Hemp Oil products on Amazon. What are they hiding that they can’t put in writing, in front of you – without you having to spend time making phone calls and sending emails only to have them hard-sell you into something you don’t need. – B.
